what a stupid day.
i've just about had it with the crappy primary medical care in the community. and what i mean by that is the family doctors/hospitalists.
i guess they're not all bad, it's just that the ones that are bad, are really bad.
nothing more frustrating then a patient coming in for a "routine follow up" who has seen their family doctor, oh, like that morning, or the day before, and the family doctor told them oh, you're fine, it's just you're old, your symptoms will go away.... or... whatever it is they tell them - and then! they come to see us, and they have no lung sounds, they're short of breath, numbness down the left arm, fluid overloaded >15 pounds - I mean, seriously?? a nurse straight out of nursing school could probably catch some of those things by looking at the patient for two seconds.
what the crap, community physicians, what the crap?!
so anyway, we admitted like, i don't even know how many patients today. i do feel bad for these patients. they're told like weeks at a time, oh, we'll do some tests, oh we'll call you...never. then they see us, and by that time we're like, you, go to hospital, now.
anyway, it seems like a whole lot of trouble, anxiety and pain could be prevented for patients if doctors would take more than a few seconds to look at their patient.
