Me and Josh were hanging out in Leavenworth, WA earlier in the year, i think it was in April, we went walking around the trails and the river and there was this brand new, clean shiny white jacket lying on the ground on one of the trails. Washingtonians are known for their "layers" and it must've gotten lost/separated from it's owner somehow. I've done that before with a nice polar fleece that is possibly still somewhere in the Olympic National Rainforest. Maybe a baby tree is growing out of it now. Or some exotic moss.
The usual Washington layers for me this time of year are as follows: rain jacket, polar fleece, tshirt and long sleeved tee under that, but I'm still always cold. Then you go somewhere slightly warmer and you start shedding layers. Then you go back outside and start putting on layers again. My layers may be more in the Alaska category, but I get so cold! I wear above-knee thick socks under my jeans this time of year, too. I really belong somewhere warm but I would miss all of the green.
Anyway, I figure some lady had this nice NorthFace jacket tied to her backpack or around her waist and didn't notice that it fell off. We never did run into anyone on the rest of the trail to ask, nor on the way back, so finders keepers.
Now I hadn't used the jacket much this summer since it was so unusually, record-breaking, sweltering, hot hot hot. But now that is most decidedly fall, I have been wearing it around the house a lot (because I am cheap and gas is expensive). It's so soft... so fuzzy... so luxurious... so warm... ahhhh. Even outside I didn't feel the bite of the chilly wind. What IS THIS MAGIC FABRIC! So I looked up online to see why it's different than my other polar fleece jackets.
Oh, it's better because it's like retailing for $200.
Thank you random lady for the nice jacket!
I'm going to wear my long sleeved patagonia zip up shirt underneath it, which was also free because I got it out of their "defect" bin. I still haven't found the defect though?? Saved me $40 though! :)
